How can i control a rc with computer ?
I have this thick board sheet, i cut it and glued it as it looks like a car and there are two gear motors on the car's backside. I have only done that much, now i have no idea how to make it. I want set up in the arduino so that when press left arrow key the rightside motor will turn off so that the car turn left. Just like that i want to do the same thing on rightside too.

I really really really need help :?:

What kind of control are you looking for - a wired system or a Wireless system?
Also, what kind of motors are you using - Brushed/ Brushless DC?
Any specifications available for the motor, like watt rating, etc?

The motor's specifications state that it is a 12V DC motor with 300mA max Load Current.
You may drive this motor using an L293D Motor Driver IC.

What type of data you want to send to the Computer?

we have a motor shield (from Probots) for the Arduino, so all the motor driving side is taken care of. The question we have is, how can we control the arduino from the PC keyboard?

If you need to control your robot using a Computer's Keyboard, you will need your PC to be connected all the time to Arduino Board through a USB Cable.
Or, you may control it using Push buttons rather than a PC's keyboard.

Here is a link to help you get started with connecting your Keyboard to your Arduino via PC - tronix stuff.

The code is rather simple, you first need to see what type of data are you dealing with in the Serial Monitor.

Code: Select all

int character = 0; // for incoming serial data
void setup()
{
 Serial.begin(9600);
}
void loop()
{
 if (Serial.available() > 0)
 {
 character = Serial.read();
 {
 Serial.write(character);
 }
 }

Then, you can use the same approach to give your Robot commands from Keyboard.
